I am a writer and narrative designer.
I’ve got a pretty solid marketing and filmmaking background.
I graduated game design course at Game Dev School in Warsaw and developed my first indie games. I am currently designing my sixth indie game, working on Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, and new unannounced titles for CI Games.
I possess the core skill of game design which is the ability to write well. I am able to write discursive, analytical prose that clearly communicates complicated concepts. I write scripts, stories, dialogues, while creating and defining characters. Generally, I am dealing with text (design, writing, editing), scenarios, the creation of the world, heroes and locations.
Besides that, I like balancing the game mechanics and the combat systems, I am looking for holes in all, I test solutions (in the context of the game world). I can prototype fragment of the levels in the editor, make a storyboard, a level or map of the world. I can sketch and I develop my graphic skills because there is a saying (I know it’s cliche…) that “a picture is worth a thousand words”.
The first thing I did when I started with video games was writing a Lovecraftian horror game. But then I realized that writing black humor and satire are more challenging for me. I feel comfortable with mature themes in prose. I like to stylize dialogues to express the essence of my characters. Horror fiction, dark science fiction, cyberpunk neo-noir, post-apocalyptic genre are close to my field of interest currently because of the game that I am doing right now.
I have extensive knowledge of current game design trends. I am fluent at researching data, providing algorithms or tables for certain parts of the game play, working with the team continually to refine and revise the game. Moreover, nitpicking research, setting up level maps, grinding out data tables, or scripting text blocks and voice-overs are in the range of my possibilities.
My thorough knowledge of history, caused long passion crowned with doctoral studies, brings me profound background to military field which helps me make world of the game more cohesive.
I don’t have specialization in one game genre but I have a strong grasp of the good story-driven games.
